Another Dawn
Your eyes open to darkness, a single note of bird honey from beyond your room, and you watch day slip in the same way an image arrives in a darkroom developing tray, a negative before the print of day.
You know the line of light beyond the trees to the east is widening, the world has turned one more time.
Rather than turn on a light, you wait for it to fix, not wanting to destroy another print.
