Festival of Colour Wanaka 2009

The 2009 Festival of Colour features six exciting days and nights of astounding performances, exhibitions and thought-provoking discussions set against the spectacular autumnal backdrop of the Southern Lakes.

Dave Armstrong’s new comedy Le Sud where the South Island has been successfully colonized by the French and is leisured, wine-loving and wealthy – unlike the North!

Mike Nock’s new piano work Southern Suite based on the southern landscape and played by Michael Houstoun and Diedre Irons.

A first look at Grahame Sydney’s documentary Dreaming of El Dorado: The Old Dunstan Road – Central Otago’s iconic artist takes up the video camera as his paint brush.

Raewyn Hill’s stylish new dance work Finders Keepers, which takes the caged songbirds of Hong Kong as its starting point.

All this and Aspiring Conversations, street performers, exhibitions, film and Schoolfest.

The Festival is based in Wanaka and the touring programme reaches out to the wider region with performances in Luggate, Hawea, Tarras, Bannockburn and Arrowtown, and new for 2009 – touring shows in Clyde and Glenorchy.
